Santa Rita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Call for Public Donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Health care workers in long term care facilities are calling for the public to donate personal protective equipment, known as PPE. Nursing homes, assisted living communities and all other types of long-term care facilities are in desperate need of PPE like N95 face masks, surgical masks, surgical gowns, medical face shields and nitrile exam gloves. WHY? PPE supplies are running dangerously low in most long-term care facilities. Health workers in long term care need this gear to stay safe on the job and to keep the resident in our facilities safe. Vendors are unable to fill orders and most state stockpiles are depleted and the Federal stockpile can't meet the need either. Facilities are taking advantage of every opportunity to safely conserve PPE by doing things like re-using masks until they are broken or dirty. Even with these measures, facilities need more supplies as soon as possible. Some are turning to making their own. WHAT DO WE NEED? We are asking the public to donate any of the following supplies: N95 masks Surgical gowns Surgical or procedure masks Medical face shields Exam gloves Alcohol-based hand sanitizer Full boxes of supplies are preferable, but partial boxes or individual donations are acceptable as long as the supplies are clean. WHO DO I CONTACT? Amy Malkin (520) 488-8695 National Website Resource AHCA/NCAL has information on our #CareNotCOVID website calling for donations. Visit www.carenotcovid.com/donate for more information.
